Christ Living in Us

Scripture: Galatians 2:20

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 KJV

Paul has just described a tense moment with Peter in Antioch, when old divisions threatened to split the church. Then he steps back and explains what lies beneath it all. This verse may be his most personal summary of what it means to follow Jesus.

“I am crucified with Christ.” When Jesus died, Paul says, he died too: the old self that lived to justify itself, prove itself, and run its own life. And yet, “nevertheless I live.” We aren’t erased. We are more alive than ever, because Christ now lives in us.

This reshapes how we meet each ordinary day. The life we live “in the flesh”, at work, at home, in the car, at the kitchen table, is lived by trusting the Son of God. We don’t face our responsibilities alone or in our own strength. The One who lives in us is present in every one of them.

Look at how Paul closes: “who loved me, and gave himself for me.” He makes it personal. Christ didn’t only love the world in general; He loved Paul, and He loves each of us by name. We might read the verse slowly and put our own name into it. That love is the ground beneath our feet.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and giving Yourself for me. Let my old self stay where it belongs, at the cross, and live Your life through me today. Help me trust You in every ordinary moment. In Your name, Amen.
