Peace for a Wandering Mind

Scripture: Isaiah 26:3

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Isaiah 26:3 KJV

Our minds wander easily. One moment we are thanking God, and the next we are replaying a hard conversation or rehearsing a fear that hasn’t happened. Isaiah reminds us that peace is closely tied to where our thoughts are resting.

To have a mind “stayed” on God means to lean on Him, the way we might rest our weight against a sturdy wall. It doesn’t mean we never think about our problems. It means we keep bringing our attention back to the One who is bigger than them.

This is a practice more than a feeling. When anxious thoughts come, we can gently turn them toward God: “Lord, You know about this. I trust You with it.” We may need to do that a dozen times in a single afternoon, and that is all right. Each return is its own small act of trust.

Peace grows in the soil of trust. The more often we bring our thoughts back to Him, the more we discover that His peace is steadier than our circumstances. Today, let’s notice where our minds drift and kindly guide them home.

Prayer

Lord, You know how quickly my thoughts run toward worry. Teach me to fix my mind on You. When I drift, draw me gently back, and keep me in the perfect peace You promise to those who trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
