A Blessed House
“Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.”
2 Samuel 7:29
Encouragement
David wanted to build God a house. Instead, God told him He would build David a house, a family line that would last. David sat before the Lord, overwhelmed, and prayed this prayer. Notice how he asks: he simply asks God to do what God has already promised. “Thou hast spoken it.” That’s a good way for us to pray for our homes and families, too. We don’t have to talk God into caring about the people under our roof. We can take His promises, hand them back to Him, and ask Him to bless those we love.
Something to Ponder
Which of God’s promises can we bring back to Him today as we pray for our home and family?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for the promises You’ve made. Please bless my home and the people in it. Let Your goodness rest on us, not just today but for generations to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
