Days That Have an End

“And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”
Matthew 24:22

Encouragement

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples on the Mount of Olives, when they asked Him about the end of the age. What He described was hard to hear: trouble, sorrow, days darker than any before. Yet in the middle of it He tucked a mercy. Those days would be shortened, for the sake of His own. God doesn’t hand His people over to endless hardship; He sets limits on it. Most of us aren’t facing the end of the world on a Monday morning, but some of us are walking through a season that feels like it will never lift. The God who numbers those days has His eye on ours, and He knows exactly when to bring them to a close.

Something to Ponder

What hard season are we in right now that we can entrust to the God who sets limits on our trouble?

Prayer

Lord, some days feel long and heavy. Thank You that You set limits on what I walk through, and that You haven’t forgotten me. Hold me steady until this season lifts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
