Forgiven for What We Didn’t Know

“And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance.”
Numbers 15:25

Encouragement

Among the laws God gave Israel in the wilderness was this quiet provision for sins no one meant to commit. The whole community might drift off course without realizing it, and God made a way back. The priest would offer a sacrifice, and “it shall be forgiven them.” There’s real kindness in that. God knew His people would stumble in ways they couldn’t even see. Many of us carry a vague unease, wondering what we’ve gotten wrong without knowing it. We don’t have to live in that fog. Jesus, our great High Priest, offered Himself once for all, and His sacrifice reaches even the failures we haven’t noticed yet.

Something to Ponder

Are there worries about hidden failures that we can bring to God today and leave with Him?

Prayer

Father, You know me better than I know myself. Forgive me for the wrongs I don’t even see. Thank You that Jesus’ sacrifice covers all of it. Help me rest in Your mercy today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
