The One Who Finishes What He Starts
“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Encouragement
Paul had only a few weeks with the believers in Thessalonica before trouble drove him out of town, and he worried about the young church he left behind. As he closed this letter, he prayed that God would make them whole, spirit, soul, and body. Then he added a quiet reassurance: the One who called them would see it through. Their growth didn’t hang on their own effort or on Paul being nearby. It rested on God’s faithfulness. Many of us begin a new week already tired, aware of how far we still have to go. We can take heart. God didn’t call us and then step back to see whether we’d manage. He began the work in us, and He intends to finish it.
Something to Ponder
Where have we been trying to carry on our own what God has promised to complete?
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling me, and for staying faithful when I’m not. As this week begins, I lean on You to finish what You’ve started in me. Let me rest in Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
